(The Complete Revised & Definitive 2001 Edition, 600+ pages in PDF format on computer CD)Far Above Rubies is a full unit study curriculum for Jr. High and high school aged young ladies (ages 12-13 through high school) based on Proverbs 31: 10-31, and is designed to cover all subjects for a complete high school education, including many suggestions for expanding into specialized areas of interest. While the author has tried to provide a well-rounded curriculum useful for college preparatory purposes as well as offering a number of business and vocational skills, our primary goal is to help Christian young ladies develop their character and abilities for useful service to the Lord within the family setting. We hope to help maturing Christian girls understand the importance of homemaking as a full-time profession, even for a woman who may have another profession or occupation as well. This curriculum stresses the importance of a woman's making her family her number one Earthly priority in terms of time and emotional commitment, and of seeing this as her life ‘calling' from God.
Far Above Rubies is meant to be a “self-directed” curriculum, which can be customized by both parents and the student, to best fit your girls' interests, goals and learning style. Students can "pick and choose" the assignments they wish to focus on to fulfill their course requirements.
This new CD version consists of PDF files scanned from the original printed curriculum. These documents are not searchable, but are fully printable. It is complete and unabridged.
What Else is Needed?
Although most required college prep courses are included in Far Above Rubies, you will need to add higher math and perhaps some additional science.Very few additional resources are mandatory, though many supplemental books and videos are suggested throughout the studies. The use of these is optional, and will depend on your own situation, preferences and budget. Most, if not all of these, are readily available in local bookstores and libraries, or can be borrowed for free via interlibrary loan or from other homeschooling families. Since this curriculum was compiled and revised in 2001, some of the specific resources mentioned in these studies may be replaced or supplemented by other free online resources or publications. You have the freedom to substitute as needed. The point of this curriculum is not to slavishly track down all the resources mentioned herein, nor is it to “get everything checked off”. Rather, it is designed to give you a solid, practical and proven framework upon which YOU can build a customized, self-directed course of jr. high and high school study for your young ladies, from ages 12 -13 all the way through high school.
